What we collect, in plain words
This is an explainer, not the legal policy. The formal one lands before we open to the public, and it will say the same things at greater length.
What we hold
- Your account
- An email address, a display name and a handle. Sign-in itself is handled by our identity provider; we never see your password.
- Roughly where you are
- A neighbourhood, so we can show you what is nearby. Other people see a distance or a circle, never a street.
- What you put on your profile
- Instruments, genres, rates, photographs, clips and links. All of it is meant to be seen, which is the point of it.
- Optional things about you
- Pronouns, gender, ethnicity and a birthday, each one optional. The birthday is only ever shown to anybody else as an age.
- Bookings and messages
- What was hired, when, for how much, and what the two of you said about it. We keep this because a dispute six weeks later is unanswerable without it.
What we do not hold
We do not store your card details or your identity document. Payments go to our payment provider and identity checks to our verification provider; what comes back to us is whether it worked.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to target advertising at you. The business model is a fee on bookings, which only works if the bookings are good.
Getting it back, or getting rid of it
Write to support@songvo.app and ask for a copy or a deletion. Bookings that are still running, and the records we are required to keep for tax, are the only things that survive a deletion, and they are stripped of everything that is not needed to settle them.
